Nigeria, ranking among the underdeveloped nations of the world, though blessed with varied natural resources has the most of its population living below subsistence level/economy. As a result, most elderly people, who would have planned for their post retirement period, do not get a chance to do so because they are left with little or nothing after retirement. On this premise, the TAIYAED programmes will come very handy in elevating the life expectancy of the elderly.
The seniors will be advised to follow the right road map for a better future. Adults and seniors on the verge of retirement and retired workers find it very difficult to get something else to do after retirement, some who are employed find out that the jobs only grant them the opportunity of just making ends meet and with no hope to plan and save for the future; even when they do, they find out that their savings are used up within few years without profitable investment options.
As it is, Nigerian teeming youths who graduate from school in large numbers, do not have anything to do and no sense of direction, no money to advance themselves join bad gangs. In other not to become public nuisance these youths can be redirected to pursue useful and gainful activities and opportunities.
TAIYAED will come in very useful in righting these anomalies. With a well planned, executed and well monitored programmes, members can be offered very good opportunities of enjoying better living standards from the point of joining the programme, all through their life span.
